Sami, halfway thru your xlnt review I got to thinking about Isabel Wilkerson's book Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents (2020), and how caste systems manipulate status to create power differentials everywhere. I'd love to see a remix of these two books, or an optimistic path forward that draws on them both.
I haven't read that one - looks indeed very complementary. I'll have to have a read and yes, it would be nice to be able to chart an optimistic path forward!
It's worth the read, and the movie that was made of it, Origins, is worth the view. I didn't think you could make a good movie out of that book, but Ava DuVernay does.
